Being from Croydon myself, I'm hugely excited about Westfields plans to redevelop the retail high street. Its been in planning a long time and has had delay after delay as developers rush to get residential units built and ready for the new shopping mall.
It is thought that the Westfield shopping centre will generate more than 5000 new jobs directly for the new shopping mall and will demand 600 new homes. But what about all the other business that will be created around the epicentre? Surely 1000's more jobs will created off the back of the re-development. Croydon will see a brand new spirit brought to the town not seen since its post-war boom in the 1960's. I would have thought that 1000's of new homes will need to be created in and around Croydon to accommodation the migration of people that will soon choose Croydon as their new home. Croydon is booming again and we all know that that drives up prices.
